Get ready for another dose of mind-blowing facts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Founder of Carnegie Mellon\u2019s Robotics Institute, Hans Moravec predicted that by 2040, robots will emerge as a species on their own. That is some weird prophecy, let\u2019s just hope robots and humans can live together in complete harmony.<\/li>\n<li>The Mie University and NEC System Technologies in Japan made the world\u2019s first Sommelier Robot. This bot had the ability to identify different wines, hors d\u2019oeuvres, and even cheeses. How awesome is that!<\/li>\n<li>The Australian researchers are working on creating a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anff.org.au\/case-studies\/microrobots-swim-human-arteries.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">micro robot<\/a> that has the capability to \u2018swim\u2019 like bacteria through human arteries.<\/li>\n<li>The word \u2018Robot\u2019 originated from <em>robota \u2013 <\/em>a Czech word that means <em>\u2018hard work\u2019<\/em> or <em>\u2018drudgery\u2019. <\/em>It was first used in 1921, in a play named Rossum\u2019s Universal Robots (R.U.R)<\/li>\n<li>Want proof that humans are still smarter than robots? Here\u2019s one: The U.S. military robots that were sent to scout out the Taliban hideout caves in Afghanistan were rendered useless. How? The Taliban made use of ladders to flip them over and disable them. TADA!<\/li>\n<li>Out of the entire robot population of the world, more than half of them can be found in Japan alone.<\/li>\n<li>In 1495, Leonardo Da Vinci drew up an armored humanoid machine plan. Keeping that plan as a model, modern engineer Mark Rosheim created a functional minuscule version for NASA. The robot is supposed to help us colonize Mars. We don\u2019t know about you but we just had multiple nerdgasms.<\/li>\n<li>Let\u2019s travel back to Plato\u2019s time, because his pal Archytas of Tarentum is accredited with the invention of a mechanical bird that can be argued to be the first ever robot created. The bird was driven by a spurt of compressed air or steam \u2013 oh, and it was back in the 5<sup>th<\/sup> century B.C.<\/li>\n<li>Nanobots are the smallest robots in the world. To call them tiny would be better because these bots measure less than a thousandth of a millimeter! Yes, that is only 10 nanometers to be precise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There you have it!
