These are heavy payload robots in the S2000 series which are equipped with the 2005 edition of KR C2 controller that is designed using standard PC components to facilitate compatibility and allow a wide array of flexibility. The series has three models namely: KUKA KR100- 2 Comp, KR140- 2 Comp and KR200- 2.
The system has high compatibility. To begin with, two slots for external axes are available thus eliminating the need for an additional cabinet when only these are to be used. For up to six other axes, a very compact cabinet is mounted on top of the basic cabinet. The controller is also very easy to maintain due to its high accessibility and use of standard parts which can be acquired on time. The robots are robust and can effectively perform handling of parts, machining, loading and unloading, palletizing, press tending, etc.
Trouble shooting for KR C2 systems is very much advanced as it is done online. Information backed up in CDs and floppy disks. These together with comprehensive safety concepts for this software give a stable system with optimised productivity. Hardware and software concepts of KUKA robots are similar hence as long as you are familiar with one robot; you get to be conversant with all the others regardless of payloads. Other features include 'plug and play' functionality for rapid start up and improved communication between network controllers for better coordination of more than one robot systems.
