Yaskawa Motoman has one of the most comprehensive collaborative hybrid robots on the market—the HC10DT. It comes with features such as easy integration and simple programming. It is a robot that’s guided by an operator, and the movements of the robot and the gripper can be monitored using the switch box.
It can also function without additional protection measures such as a security fence, depending on the risk assessment done by the operator. Operator safety is guaranteed by a power and force limit technology, whereby the robot interrupts the process in case of contact with the operator.
Amazingly, Yaskawa-Motoman managed to better this robot with its HC10DT IP67 version, expanding its possible use cases and making it resistant to dust and water. Thanks to the IP67 protection class, it is not only fully covered against dust ingress, but it is also resistant to water seepage, even if it is temporarily submerged. This makes it suitable, for example, when handling tasks in unfavorable environmental conditions.
This new version is complemented by two fundamental components: stability and high-speed movement, while also ensuring operator security is never compromised.
The 6-axis robot, with a payload of 10 kg and a reach of 1.2 m, has another important feature which is known as programming flexibility. The first option is intuitive programming with Direct Teach (DT), where programming can be carried out directly through the robot’s arm. The second option is to use the three buttons attached to the robot flange: the trigger button, learn button, and tool button, to open and close the caliper. Finally, the third option is touch-screen programming. There is also a Smart Pendant feature that allows users to make program settings quick and easy.
This Yaskawa-Motoman innovation was recognized for its high design quality with the 2020 Red Dot Award for Product Design. It made the manufacturer Yaskawa one of the winners of the world’s most recognized design competition.
The international design award Red Dot GmbH & Co. KG gives out covers the disciplines of Product Design, Branding and Communication Design, and Design Concepts. A jury comprising experts carries out an exhaustive evaluation based on the aesthetic, materials, procedures, surface structure, ergonomics, and functionality of a product, to finally decide on and the level of innovation the designers and manufacturers achieved in the creation of the new product. Only the best designs are awarded the prize.
