ABB presents its two new products, the collaborative robots (cobot) GoFa and SWIFTI; this innovative series provides greater payloads and speed. It also complements the YuMi robot.

These models are ideal for increasing performance and meeting the growing demand for automation in sectors such as: electronics, healthcare, consumer products, logistics, and food and beverage across multiple industries. Let’s take a look at the specifications.

Gofa and SWIFTI

The GoFa and SWIFTI designs make it easy for users to program thus freeing industries with a low degree of automation to acquire an expert. Likewise, customers can directly operate their collaborative robots within minutes of installation. This innovation is designed to work together with operators without safety parameters such as fences. It is also easier to incorporate and operate.

At the end of 2020, ABB’s robot sales in China increased by 90%. The collaborative robots GoFa and SWIFTI are expected to receive orders from customers who are forced to restrict their business activities.

The GoFa and SWIFTI robots are priced at US $ 25,000 and US $ 35,000, respectively, and are equipped with sensors to prevent accidents, eliminating the need for a protective cage. Both robots are faster than the previous model. Swifti can move the arm at a speed of 5 meters per second while carrying a load of 5 kg.

Sami Atiya, president of ABB’s Robotics & Discrete Automation Business Area, commented: “They are easy to use and are configured and supported by our global network of experts in online services to ensure that companies of all sizes and new sectors of the economy, as well as the manufacturing sector, can incorporate robots for the first time.”

ABB’s growing portfolio of collaborative robots is designed to help beginners and existing robot users accelerate automation on 4 important factors.

  • Custom Users
  • Labor shortage
  • Digitization
  • Uncertainty.

The innovations are based on high growth lines that help accelerate the profitable growth of the business sectors.

After the pandemic, ABB expects the demand for robots to increase. According to its own survey, 84% of the 1,650 companies plan to increase the use of robots in the next ten years.

People who use tablets or smartphones can easily use ABB’s quick configuration tool to program and reprogram new collaborative robots. Users will be able to take advantage of ABB’s extensive experience in industrial processes.

Based on statistics, approximately 43% of companies look to robotics for optimization of health and safety in the workplace. Automation can optimize the quality of the operator’s work by (36%), considering that social distancing can be achieved up to 51% by integrating industrial robots.

Each ABB cooperative robot installation includes a starter software package that monitors functions of ABB Ability. It also provides a free hotline for the first six months for professional technical support from ABB.
