FANUC UK AND THE EVENT FOR THE GROWTH OF SMES IN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR.

Small organizations will benefit the most from increased automation in construction, concludes FANUC, whose week-long open house attended by more than 1,000 experts revealed a sequence of emerging trends that the UK should adopt to produce an increase in 2022.

Tom Bouchier, Managing Director of FANUC Unified Kingdom, said: IIoT has been around for several years, and now we are in a phase where the technology is powerful enough to make a real difference in operations, in which it is in parallel pretty simple to use actually.

The other key issue that came up at the open house was the potential opportunities for small and medium-sized organizations (SMEs). FANUC argues that conversations about barriers to automation have repeatedly revealed that SMEs would benefit the most if it were introduced into their production lines. It is argued that the compact nature of the latest automation technology, combined with the availability of turnkey systems, opens it up to operations of all sizes.

It is also said that the macro trend of customization, in which manufacturers increasingly need to be flexible in their production to meet requests for low-volume / custom production runs, is also claimed to place SMEs in the center of the industry’s growth, and highlights the importance of ensuring that capital is accessible for smaller companies to reach their potential.

However, it was also clear during our open house that there was a monumental space for SME growth.

An extensive speaker program and record number of visitors to the FANUC UK Open House demonstrated the need for building automation in the UK.

With more than 1,000 people walking through the doors of its headquarters in Antsy Park, Coventry, the week-long FANUC UK event brought together people from across the industry to see the future of automation. Keynote speakers and professional litigation panels framed the week, which focused on “the future of automation” spanning 3 main themes: automation and construction in the Unified Kingdom; business development, training and learning; and Industry 4.0 and IIoT.

Tom Bouchier, CEO of FANUC Unified Kingdom, comments: We are delighted with the huge response to the open house, which shows how many people in the construction industry are still aware of the potential of automation.

It has been a great exercise in debating the issues most relevant to our industry and understanding what the future of construction automation has in store for the UK.
