ABB AND ITS TWO NEW MODELS WITH 8 VARIANTS THE IRB 5710 AND THE IRB 5720

ABB adds robots for complicated manufacturing applications to its family with the addition of two new robot families. ABB‘s IRB 5710 and 5720 robots offer higher productivity and better performance with increased uptime for applications such as electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, foundry, forging, rubber and plastics, and metal fabrication. They offer increased speed, accuracy, flexibility, and a more robust design, including integrated process wiring.
The IRB 5710 and IRB5720 can handle a variety of production tasks, including the assembly and handling of high-precision parts. Available in eight variants, the robots can lift payloads from 70kg to 180kg and reach heights of up to 3m.
These new robots help ABB continue to expand in the fast-growing electric car market, meeting customer demand for robust devices that can execute complicated battery assembly jobs with speed, path accuracy and dexterity. According to Joerg Reger, General Manager of the Automotive Business Line at ABB Robotics, electric vehicles are the future.
Electric vehicle designs can be complicated, and components like batteries and semiconductor modules can be heavy and fragile. To avoid production errors, these targets require technologies that can deliver the highest accuracy and repeatability, according to Reger.
ABB’s new OmniCore TM V250XT controller is the latest addition to the OmniCore controller family. Featuring ABB‘s TrueMove and QuickMove motion control technology, the controller enables the IRB5710 and IRB 5720 robots to deliver class-leading speed. The controller also improves production capacity with shorter lead times.
ABB’s integrated LeanID DressPack protects process cables from wear and damage by routing them internally, rather than externally, through the robot’s wrist and upper arm. This prevents swinging cables, which are a major cause of robot maintenance issues, and protects against heat and collision, potentially reducing downtime and maintenance costs while increasing service life. of the robot. In ABB‘s RobotStudio offline programming tools, LeanID also simplifies programming and simulation with predictable cable movements.
Both robot families include a variety of mounting options, including flat, angled, inverted and semi-rack for maximum design flexibility.
