To help its customers with more diverse automation applications, ABB has launched a new robotics ecosystem programme. The programme, in collaboration with a global network of partners, will enable end users and system integrators to easily access third-party innovations, such as certified peripheral equipment and software solutions.
According to Andrea Cassoni, General Manager Global Business Line General Industry at ABB Robotics, “SMEs can struggle to take full advantage of the benefits of robotic automation due to a lack of knowledge and experience in the use of robots.” “End users have plug and play solutions available to them from our ecosystem partners that address these issues by enabling them to introduce and integrate robots into their operations quickly and easily.”
With the help of the new initiative, ecosystem partners will be able to create and supply packages that include pre-engineered software and accessories. These packages are compatible and easy to integrate with the full range of robotic systems offered by ABB. The packages will make it easier for system integrators and end users to configure robots for new applications by offering fully integrated, ready-to-use solutions. They will also enable system integrators to offer more cutting-edge solutions, boosting their competitiveness and further reducing barriers to automation for SMEs.
Hardware, such as grippers, tables and feeders, is the main emphasis of ABB’s ecosystem packages for cobots and industrial robots. Partners will create software products, such as configuration applications and Wizard Easy programming blocks. These tools will make it easier for educational institutions to develop robotic applications and incorporate them into curricula. ABB works with academic institutions in more than 40 countries to prepare students for the next era of automation.
According to Cassoni, workers will increasingly need training in the use of automated technology to perform their jobs as robots become more prevalent in factories, warehouses and elsewhere. “Our Ecosystem Programme can play a key role in ensuring that people have the right skills for an automated future” by making it simpler to bring robots into schools.
Ecosystem partners can produce pre-engineered packages for ABB robotic systems that include software and accessories. These packages simplify configuration, benefiting both system integrators and end users. For SMEs, this technology reduces automation hurdles and increases competitiveness. System integrators are more competitive and can remove barriers to automation by offering state-of-the-art solutions.
ABB’s entire line of robots will be supplied with integrated and fully compatible robot packages, thanks to a new initiative that strengthens collaboration.
Packages with a low learning curve open up new automation opportunities and broaden the scope of applications, primarily for SMEs, first-time users, educators and system integrators.
