FANUC’s R-2000iC/190S 6-axis articulated arm robot is designed to overcome obstacles in precision applications such as direct component manufacturing. While the use of robots for milling applications is not new, most current solutions focus on workpiece materials such as plastic and resin. The R-2000iC/190S, on the other hand, allows users to mill more difficult materials such as aluminium and wood with high precision.
According to Ralf Völlinger, vice president and general manager of the Robot Division Europe at FANUC Europe, the established R-2000iC robot family now includes a high-precision variant. In addition, with a payload of 190 kg and a reach of 2040 mm, the R-2000iC/190S is capable of performing a variety of challenging jobs that other precise models are unable to handle.
Aiming for perfection, the new robot’s optimum precision is due to two factors
1) Robot tuned to absolute precision
2) New technology
They offer extremely excellent precision even in the presence of process-related stresses.
The R-2000iC/190S comes with FANUC iRCalibration Signature technology. FANUC uses an exceptionally accurate laser tracker to calibrate each robot once it is built. This method examines the precise proportions and measurements of each unique robot, compensating for the smallest variations that occur during the manufacturing process and, as a result, improves the robot’s absolute accuracy.
The introduction of additional sensors helps the robot to compensate for process errors, further enhancing this improved calibration procedure. As a result, in production applications, the FANUC R-2000iC/190S achieves excellent linear and circular path accuracy.
In addition to these cutting-edge technologies, the solid proportions also help to increase rigidity, which reduces errors even in high-speed applications and tight curves. The FANUC R-2000iC/190S is suitable for any job requiring high levels of precision due to its meticulous and skilfully developed design.
Milling prismatic components is one of these, with the spindle/cutting tool assembly supports at the end of the robot arm. Another use for the robot is wood machining, making it an excellent choice for industries such as architecture and art. Drilling work in the aerospace industry is another example, as well as other precise applications where the robot can act as a jig or fixture.
The precision of the FANUC R-2000iC/190S is aided by its very rugged outer casing and state-of-the-art procedures. Users have a fairly affordable machine with great accessibility to the workpiece from numerous angles due to its extended reach along with six axes of motion.
The R-2000iC/190S is a high-performance intelligent robot with exceptional reliability from FANUC. The robot supports the latest R-30iB Plus control in addition to the conventional iPendant as a teaching device. A force sensor allows the robot to detect the force and torque applied to the end effector in six degrees of freedom.
