ABB and its two new OmniCore controller partners. The new E10 and V250XT controllers, available for a number of robots in ABB’s portfolio, expand the control capabilities of advanced robots in a wide variety of industries, from electronics assembly to automotive, logistics and construction.
The E10 controller was designed to supply ABB SCARA robots and articulated robots with payloads of up to 11 kg, such as the IRB 920T and IRB 1300. It is made for confined locations and high-density production lines where space is at the forefront. , as in the assembly of small components and the handling of materials of the electronics industry.
The V250XT controller is designed for use in electric car production, car manufacturing, logistics, and general industrial applications. It can drive articulated robots weighing up to 300 kg, like the IRB 6700.
ABB noted that the OmniCore E10 and V250XT controllers consume 20% less power compared to their previous IRC5 controllers.
ABB’s FlexPendant manual controller is used with both controllers. To facilitate robot programming, the huge 8 “multi-touch screen supports typical movements such as pinching, swiping and tapping. All ABB OmniCore controllers are based on the organization’s RobotWare operating system. The OmniCore family of controllers will be expanded to include ABB’s robot portfolio, with more applications in 2022.
