YASKAWA REVOLUTIONISES HEAVY LOADING WITH MOTOMAN ME1000: COMPACT POWER FOR DEMANDING INDUSTRIES

Yaskawa has launched the MOTOMAN ME1000, a six-axis robot designed for horizontal handling of heavy loads. With a capacity of up to 1,000 kg, this compact arm aims to meet the needs of sectors such as automotive, logistics, and construction, offering industrial flexibility.

Horizontal Design and Energy Efficiency

Unlike vertically articulated robots, the ME1000 features a horizontal configuration that reduces its mass and, consequently, structural stresses and energy consumption. This characteristic was recognized with the Energy Conservation Grand Prize in Japan.

Technical Specifications

The robot boasts a high payload-to-weight ratio, a reach of over 2,400 mm, and repeatability precision of ±0.1 mm, along with controllers like the YRC1000, known for their easy programming and robust operation. These features make it suitable for tasks such as handling electric vehicle batteries, heavy automotive parts, metal components, logistical pallets, and prefabricated structures.

Application Example: Battery Tray Handling

In a European electric vehicle assembly plant, the ME1000 is used to transfer battery modules between stations horizontally, achieving precise alignment, a 50% reduction in energy consumption, and the elimination of manual transfer areas to optimize processes. This case has been documented in technical conferences by automotive OEMs.

The MOTOMAN ME1000 is designed for horizontal handling of bulky and heavy loads, combining energy efficiency, precision, and operational ease. Its compact and robust design is suitable for industrial environments with space constraints and variable production demands. It integrates into Yaskawa’s portfolio as an adaptable tool for highly demanding operational projects.
