AUTOMATED WELDING WITH THE FANUC ARCMate SERIES

Fanuc’s ARC welding robots will make automated welding more feasible for companies with limited floor space but massive work pieces. High-batch manufacturing lines, especially those handling parts larger than 1500mm in diameter, can benefit from the ARCMate 100iD/10L. Its repeatability and quality control capabilities make it a highly desirable addition to manufacturing lines that must meet high-volume orders with critical weld quality and performance.
The ARCMate 100iD/10L has a capacity of 10 kg of additional tools, such as welding torches, to meet increasing production demands. “Subcontractors working on larger workpieces shouldn’t have to sacrifice weld quality or integrity,” says Tom Bouchier, managing director of Fanuc UK. In fact, the new ARCMate was created precisely to address space limitations.”
The robot has a small size and a compact, articulated shape that allows it to reach tight spots inside machine tools. It can also be placed upside down or at an angle, and all welding cables and hoses are routed internally to save space. The power pack (cable, gas and power) can follow the movement of the robot accurately and repeatably, preventing cables from ripping or breaking, thanks to integrated wiring from the robot base to the welding torch.
Greater weld integrity, higher productivity, less downtime and more effective use of employees are just a few of the reasons to consider investing in a welding robot.
Using the robot’s embedded software, you can get even more return on your investment. For example, the R-30iB Plus controller guides the user through setup and programming. Zero Downtime, an intelligent maintenance schedule and condition prediction tool, can also help manufacturers maintain robot productive capacity.
Optional Fanuc additions can help the ARCMate reach its full potential. For example, Dual Check Safety further minimizes the size of robotic cells while reducing the danger of injury or damage to people, work pieces and other machinery. Operators can also install WELDPro, an application-specific extension to ROBOGUIDE software that allows them to set ARC welding parameters directly from a part’s CAD design.
According to Tom, investing in a welding robot is an important step for many companies. Clients who take advantage of the smart features of the system, on the other hand, should see big profits much sooner than they expected.
Offering a compact, flexible and high-speed design, it is intended to maximize performance and take advantage of cell space.
