The PL800 is a versatile and powerful 4-axis robot that offers high performance in palletising applications and many other logistics applications for automation and end-of-line packaging options.
The North and South American markets for the Yaskawa Motoman PL800 palletising robot are now open. The robot has been created for “palletising applications, layer picking and other logistical tasks”. The PL800 has a horizontal reach of 3,159mm and a payload capacity of 800kg.
Yaskawa said the robot can transport a range of products, including cases, bags, bottles and boxes, thanks to its high payload capacity and “wide working area”. The T-axis has a 100mm pitch for quick connections to end-of-arm tooling and a high moment of inertia allowed to handle unbalanced loads efficiently without slowing down machine operation.
For palletising applications, Yaskawa has developed the PL series. The company estimates that the payloads of the robots range from 80 to 800 kg (176 to 1,763 lb). The PL80, PL190, PL320 and PL800 models are among them.
The robot is controlled by a YRC1000 controller and has an IP54 rating. The controller can operate without a transformer at input voltages between 380 and 480 volts alternating current (VAC), according to Yaskawa, based in Kitakyushu, Japan.
The company claims that by using a single connection to connect the controller and robot, the installation process is simplified and costs are reduced. A cable installation tube facilitates fieldbus routing to the upper arm and/or gripper, and overhead lines and cables are routed internally from the base to the end-of-arm tool to maximise reliability.
The YRC1000 uses a lightweight Teach Pendant with simple programming and a very compact enclosure (598 W x 490 H x 427 D mm).
Yaskawa‘s PalletSolver software is available for the PL800, allowing off-line generation of pallet patterns for a variety of SKUs, the company stated. This allows faster use of the workcell for even the most complex designs.
