VISION TECHNOLOGY SOFTWARE TO INCREASE ACCURACY IN COLLECTION AND ASSEMBLY PROCESSES OF ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS

ABB Robotics has released a solution. ABB‘s High Speed Alignment software, backed by 50 years of software experience, is the first to enable manufacturers to increase the speed and accuracy of 6-axis robots by 70% and 50%, respectively.
Visual Servoing technology, which uses one or more cameras and a computer vision system to control the position of the robot relative to the workpiece, is included in the PC-based software. The cameras continuously capture images as the robot moves, while the computer vision system processes the data, verifies it and modifies the robotic movements to provide an accuracy of 0.01 to 0.02 millimeters.
ABB‘s 6-axis articulated robots are extremely adaptable for demanding jobs in limited locations and can perform a variety of precise placement tasks. High Speed Alignment Software was created to provide the ideal combination of speed and accuracy.
High-speed alignment software uses vision technology to deliver a 70 percent increase in speed and a 50 percent increase in accuracy. The IRB 1300 and IRB 920T SCARA can handle more and heavier objects at the same time, allowing more products to be produced per hour. New IP54 and Cleanroom options ensure stable production in wet, dry and dusty environments. ABB’s IRB 1100 and IRB 120 industrial robots are supported by the software.
ABB claims that its six-axis articulated robotic arms can execute a variety of precision positioning operations in small places. “Finding the optimal balance between speed and accuracy” was the goal of the High Speed Alignment software, according to the company.
