ABB ROBOTICS TO PROVIDE ROBOTIC SOLUTIONS FOR NOBIA’S NEW KITCHEN FACTORY IN SWEDEN

European kitchen manufacturer Nobia has chosen ABB Robotics to provide robotic automation solutions for its new production facility in Jönköping, Sweden. ABB Robotics aims to help organisations transform their operations through adaptive automation and cutting-edge customised products. ABB Robotics will work with Nobia to enable rapid mass production of customised kitchens, meeting growing customer demand for specialised and unique items.

Nobia will be able to realise its ambition of more flexible and automated production, enabling large-scale customised items to be manufactured thanks to the availability of ABB robots. The range of robots will free Nobia’s staff to perform safer and more satisfying work by taking over tedious, unpleasant and sometimes dangerous tasks.

The three robots are the IRB 6700, which ABB says is the highest-performing robot in the 150-300 kg category and can lift 2.5 tonnes from an employee’s shoulders on average per day, the IRB 4600, a general-purpose robot that increases production capacity and productivity, and the IRB 7600, best for heavy-duty applications. Compared to non-automated procedures, the use of robots in the factory will increase production efficiency (time) by 75-80%.

In the vicinity of Jönköping, ABB Robotics and Nobia are collaborating to develop a flexible and digitised production process. The collaboration will enhance the development of automation competence and train Nobia’s staff and students at the universities in Jönköping and Linköping. At the newly built training facility in Jönköping, ABB Robotics will support and train Nobia employees and students. The agreement excites Nobia CEO Jon Sintorn, who says the plant will produce unique, tailor-made kitchens with the highest speed and quality. Nobia will be able to offer consumers in the Nordic area kitchens with cutting-edge design and sustainable performance thanks to the special combination of technical solutions and know-how.
