THROUGH AN APP, WELDING ROBOTS CAN BE PROGRAMMED WITH SMARTHPHONES

Hirebotics’ Cobot Welder is the new system for programming via the Beacon smartphone app, eliminating the requirement for programming skills. In addition, it includes the UR10e collaborative robot from Universal Robots.

Welding is often considered a labor-intensive tack and lock technique found in many discrete manufacturing assembly activities. While many components of welding are still done by hand, the process is becoming more mechanized as robotics and artificial intelligence become more prevalent.

Automation World covered the launch of Hirebotics’ BotX Welder about two years ago. Universal Robots UR10e collaborative robotic arm (cobot), welder, wire feeder, MIG welding gun, welding table, and user input adjustable touch buttons are included in this robotic welding system. The BotX welder, according to Hirebotics, was created to address a shortage of trained welders across the state, as well as the difficulties of creating high-quality parts quickly in small batches.

What includes?

A UR10e collaborative robot, a Miller Invision 352 MPa cobot package, a Tregaskiss robotic torch, a mobile cart with a standard 5/8 in. diameter in 2 in. Center hole pattern and Cobot Welder smartphone app are included in the Cobot Welder package.

How does it work?

Hirebotics has launched Cobot Welder, a new cobot welding technology that “enables painless automated weld deployments,” according to the company. The Cobot Welder comes with a smartphone app that allows welders to program the robot without using a robot learning pendant. The smartphone app for Cobot Welder is powered by Hirebotics’ cloud-based Beacon software platform. Beacon is a UR + certified platform for cobot application development, remote cobot monitoring and maintenance, and 24/7 global support that launched in 2020.

Cobot Welder is designed for DIYers and comes with a common hardware kit for companies looking to automate their welders. According to Hirebotics, it is aimed at companies with “a limited capital budget that are eager to grow their business with cobot welding and train welders, not robot programmers, to take advantage of automation.”
