MIXED DEPALLETISING SOLUTIONS FROM PLUS ONE ROBOTICS AND YASKAWA MOTOMAN

Plus One Robotics, a provider of machine vision software and robotic package handling solutions, is using Yaskawa Motoman robots in customer induction and mixed depalletising programmes. FedEx Corp. has acquired twelve additional induction systems, adding to the four already in place at the FedEx Express Hub in Memphis, Tennessee.

Plus One introduced mixed depalletising systems at the FedEx facility in Reno, NV, enabling efficient movement of palletised shipment cases. FedEx uses Yonder software for remote monitoring of the robots, according to Brian Marflak, FedEx vice president of global engineering, research and technology. The technology in these systems helps move specific shipments efficiently.

At the FedEx facility in Reno, Nevada, Plus One installed mixed depalletising devices that allow for quick removal of boxes from palletised freight. According to Brian Marflak, vice president of global engineering, research and technology at FedEx, the company will use Plus One’s Yonder software to remotely monitor the robots. Shipments that would normally have to be unloaded manually can now be moved thanks to the technology.

Erik Nieves, co-founder and CEO of Plus One, highlights the potential of the systems and solutions to increase the efficiency of team members in performing complex activities such as loading and unloading trucks and aircraft. By achieving near-perfect performance and execution accuracy, in addition to current team members, these solutions address the staffing shortages faced by distribution centres.

Yonder, a remote monitoring programme from Plus One Robotics, provides ergonomics, security and flexibility to accommodate seasonal shipping schedules. From any location, team leaders can manage numerous robots, handle pick exceptions and quickly return them to autonomous operation. The human-in-the-loop capabilities offered by this software enable effective and efficient operations.

Robots are remotely monitored by team leaders, minimising downtime and expanding the workforce. This allows on-site workers to focus on higher-value tasks. For subsequent choices, the programme enhances the machine learning model. Doug Burnside, vice president of sales and marketing for Yaskawa Motoman in North America, says the Plus One’s fast image collection and processing provides maximum production potential. Operation of the fluid manufacturing robot is efficiently managed with the support of Yonder’s remote supervisor.
