SPEED AND SAFETY COMBINE IN ABB’S NEW COLLABORATIVE ROBOT

The company said the SWIFTI CRB 1300 robot arm bridges the gap between industrial robotics and collaborative robotics, and ABB unveiled it. The SWIFTI CRB 1300 can be used for a range of manufacturing and product handling applications, including pick-and-place, bolting and palletising, with a payload capacity of up to 11 kg (24.3 lb).
ABB’s SafeMove collaborative safety software is combined with a safety laser scanner on the SWIFTI CRB 1300. These solutions enable safe cooperation without taking up space or spending money on fences or other physical obstacles. ABB’s SafeMove software will automatically slow down or stop the robot if it detects a worker within the SWIFTI’s operating area. Once the work area is clear, the worker will resume moving at full speed for maximum productivity. When they move away, the motion will resume.
A built-in interaction status light provides a visible indicator of the cobot’s status while a worker is present in the work area as an additional level of safety. ABB‘s OmniCore C90XT controller controls the robot.
By physically guiding the robot through a procedure (lead-through programming) or using ABB’s new Wizard Easy Programming software, users can configure the robot. Robotics beginners can program with Wizard Easy Programming, which is based on simple graphical blocks.
The GoFa CRB 15000, YuMi single- and dual-arm robots, and the SWIFTI CRB 1100 industrial collaborative robot with weights up to 4 kg are available in addition to a broader cobot portfolio covering payloads from 0.5 kg to 11 kg.

Cloud-enabled functionality has recently been added to RobotStudio, ABB’s robot simulation and programming software. Individuals and teams can collaborate on robot cell designs in real time using any device, anywhere thanks to the new RobotStudio Cloud.
The SWIFTI CRB 1300 also has the following features that make it easy for non-robotics professionals to operate and allow for safe deployment alongside employees.
– With three different payload options: 7, 10 and 11 kilograms each weighing 15.4 pounds (24.3 lbs.)
– Reach from 900 mm (35.4 inches) to 1400 mm (55.1 inches)
– IP67 variant useful for high humidity and dusty areas
– 6.2 m/s (20.3 ft/sec) as maximum velocity
– A repeatability of 0.0004′′ (0.01 mm)
