VISION AND FORCE CONTROL TECHNOLOGIES, FANUC

Industrial robots are constantly being upgraded and improved as technology advances tremendously as we move forward in the automation industry. Force sensing and robot vision are combined in industrial robots to generate haptic intelligence. These procedures are continually being improved by manufacturers, who also manage to raise production quality while reducing prices.
FANUC force sensors make an almost human-like feeling of touch possible. They are able to detect externally applied forces and moments (x, y, z, yaw, pitch and roll). These sensors help control speed and force when adjusting, aligning, grinding, trimming or assembling things.
A wide range of applications use FANUC’s force and vision control sensors. These include aligning a flat surface of one workpiece with a flat surface of another workpiece, grinding or feeding flexible parts. They also include pushing under constant force and product life cycle testing.
iRvision is a visual sensor system that uses cameras to measure the position of each workpiece before adjusting the robot’s motions to move the workpiece properly. The cameras can be mounted on the robot or left in unpopulated areas. Handling multiple components simultaneously, conserving floor space and fewer part changes are other advantages.
FANUC offers an integrated force sensor diagnostic function that uses instructions to check each force sensor to ensure that all are in good working condition. To determine the performance of the force control, several software functions are also available. A visible indication of the performance impact of changing force control parameters is the display of real-time force sensor data. By providing immediate feedback for production runs and simplifying troubleshooting, this helps reduce the overall amount of time spent on training.
To reproduce monitored workpiece edges throughout the contouring process, there is a “Teach Pendant Program Auto Generation” feature. Using the FANUC iRVision Image to Points tool, this creates an automatic TP program with positional data. During force control operation, the iPendant user interface device provides continuous visualization of force variations.
A wide range of robot types, including LR Mate 200iC, M-10, M-20, M-710 and R-2000iB, can employ force sensors because most of them have an IP67 rating.
iRobot’s iRVision and force sensors offer high accuracy and increased productivity. The fact that the robot is fully integrated for faster processing is also an advantage. Thanks to simple integration and fewer parts to help ensure optimal uptime, setups are quick and simple.
