At the recent NVIDIA GTC 2025 event, Vention presented an innovative container selection solution powered by artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting the collaboration between NVIDIA, ABB, and McAlpine & Co. Ltd. This demonstration underscores how technological synergies can accelerate the adoption of automation in the manufacturing industry.
During the presentation, an ABB GoFa™ CRB 15000 collaborative robot, equipped with artificial vision and digital grippers, showcased its ability to detect, select, pick up, and organize complex plumbing parts from McAlpine & Co. Ltd. This process was carried out autonomously, using only the CAD file of the parts as a reference. The key to this autonomy lies in Vention’s MachineMotion AI controller, powered by the NVIDIA Jetson platform, which provides the real-time processing necessary for large-scale autonomous container picking.
The collaboration between these companies addresses significant challenges in industrial automation. Traditionally, programming robots for tasks such as selecting parts from disordered containers required customized, expensive, and complex solutions. Vention’s solution simplifies this process, reducing both the time and costs of integration, making automation more accessible to manufacturers of various sizes.
Etienne Lacroix, founder and CEO of Vention, emphasized that the rapid evolution of AI is making automation more accessible to companies of all sizes. By integrating NVIDIA hardware and AI models, Vention has developed a solution that allows robots not only to identify and retrieve parts but also to intelligently organize them, reducing the need for costly integrations and extensive programming.
The participation of McAlpine & Co. Ltd., a leading UK manufacturer of plumbing products, highlights the practical applicability of this technology. John Gordon, the company’s managing director, noted that container picking automation has been a challenge, and that collaboration with Vention allows them to implement innovative solutions that meet their strict quality standards.
Additionally, Vention announced its collaboration with ABB Robotics, ensuring compatibility between its automation platform and ABB’s GoFa family of cobots. This partnership enables seamless integration from design to plant operation, benefiting small and medium-sized manufacturers looking to implement collaborative robotic solutions.
These collaborations demonstrate how the integration of advanced technologies and cooperation between leading companies can accelerate the arrival of innovations to the market, allowing manufacturers to quickly leverage the benefits of AI in their production processes. By reducing the complexity and cost of automation, the door is opened to greater adoption of intelligent solutions in the manufacturing industry.
